On September 5, 2014, a delegation of high-level officials from the U.S. Department of Education, the Florida Department of Education, members of our School Board and District leadership, as well as local government and other dignitaries, toured and learned from some of our District’s environmental award winning schools.

9:20 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.
Tour of Silver Ridge Elementary, 9100 SW 36th St, Davie, FL 33328 – 2013 P3 Eco-Challenge School. Student-led tours of school’s green projects.
10:40 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
Tour of Driftwood Middle School, 2751 NW 70th Terrace, Hollywood, FL 33024 – 2013 US Dept. of Education Green Ribbon School and P3 Eco-Challenge School. Official presentation of the U.S. DOE Green Ribbon Schools awards to BCPS Superintendent Runcie and School Board Chair Ms. Good. Student-led tours of school’s environmental and wellness initiatives.
12:20 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Listening Session at South Plantation HIgh School, Everglades Restoration and Environmental Magnet High School, 1300 SW 54th Ave, Plantation, FL 33317 – 2012 P3 Eco-Challenge School. Lunch, a short presentation of District initiatives and goals, Q&A, and a tour of South Plantation’s solar car and environmental magnet programs.
2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Hugh Taylor Birch Park – featuring New River Middle School (2014 P3 Eco-Challenge School), 3109 E Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
O 2:30-4:00 p.m. Small groups will visit student-led centers of New River students, who will collect and analyze data collected through a microclimate lab, a beach profile activity and an ethical fishing demonstration. O 4:00-6:00 p.m. – Reception: A variety of Broward County Schools and partners will be proudly displaying their health, wellness, and environmental programs.
