P3 School Challenge:

  1. Open to all traditional and charter Broward County Public Schools. Charter schools – please visit this page before you begin your application(s).
  2. Overall First Place P3 Eco-Challenge winners from the last four school years (2013-17) are ineligible to apply for this year’s overall category.
  3. There is a 5-year hiatus for first place winners of the P3 Eco-Challenge Individual School Category in which they won first. They can apply for other categories.
  4. All activities described in the school application should reflect projects that are ongoing or will occur during the current school year.
  5. All applications with documentation should be received ONLINE by March 15, 2018.
  6. Only complete nominations submitted on time will be considered.
  7. Before you start the online application, compile and type up your narratives in a Word document that you can cut and paste into the application. Rubrics/metrics and resources will assist you in your application.
  8. Finalist will be notified by April 24, 2018.

Environmental Stewardship Recognition:

  1. Open to traditional and charter Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students, educators, non-instructional and custodial staff (new category!). Charter schools please visit this page before you begin your application(s).
  2. There is a 5-year hiatus for first place winners of the P3 Eco-Challenge Stewardship. First place winners can apply after the 5-year hiatus.
  3. All activities described in the individual application should reflect projects that are ongoing or will occur during the current school year.
  4. All applications with documentation should be received online by the due date.
  5. Only complete nominations submitted on time will be considered.
  6. Before you start the online application, compile and type up your narratives in a Word document that you cut and paste into the application. Rubrics and resources will assist you in your application.
  7. Finalists will be notified by April 24, 2018.

PRIZES*

P3 School Challenge:

  1. Overall Categories (school applies to all categories): First Place (Gold) Winner and Runner-Up - $2,500 First Place (Gold) Winner, prizes for all winners. Special Prize for Water Conservation PSA: Water bottle filler station
  2. 6 Individual School Categories: (I) School Grounds Enhancement, (II) School Sustainability, (III) Curriculum Integration, (IV) Community Involvement, (V) Administrative Support, and (VI) Innovation - prizes depend on overall success of fundraising but generally $500 for first place of each category

Environmental Stewardship Recognition:

  1. Students: First Place Winner and Runner-Up in each level: Elementary, Middle, and High-$250 each First Place Winner, prizes for all winners
  2. Educators: First Place Winner and Runner-Up in each level: Elementary, Middle, and High-$500 each First Place Winner, prizes for all winners
  3. Non-Instructional: First Place Winner and Runner-Up – $250 for First Place Winner, prizes for all winners
  4. Custodial Staff: First Place Winner and Runner-Up – $250 for First Place Winner, prizes for all winners

*These are the anticipated minimum monetary awards based upon the overall success of fundraising. Last year the Overall School Winner received $2,500 and the runner-up received $1,500. NEW FOR 2016-17

  • Custodial Staff — new category! Must be school based custodial staff.
  • Non-Instructional: can be volunteers, cafeteria staff, secretaries, bookkeepers, etc. They can’t be custodial staff (separate category) or administrators – administrators please apply to school category 5: Administrative Support
  • Water Conservation PSA – Create a 30 second PSA on water conservation – Bonus 10 points for any schools that create the PSA. PSA winner will win a water bottle filler station – Info packet here: water-conservation-psa-contest-packet
  • Stewardship nominee's photos and letter(s) of recommendation(s) count for points.
  • (VI) INNOVATION CATEGORY: 2016-17 SPECIAL PROJECT (Possible 100 Points) – Citizen Science
