  • Green Strides: Environment, Health and Facilities at U.S. Department of Education (ED) – ED is working to make all schools healthier, safer and more sustainable with initiatives in the areas of facilities, health and environment. Several key programs in these areas are: U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, Green Strides Webinar Series, Green Strides Resources
  • Environmental Clean Up/Conservation Projects Scholarship – The Apprentice Ecologist Initiative™ (officially recognized by the U.S. EPA) has engaged tens of thousands of young volunteers (kids, teens, and college-age youth) from around the world in environmental cleanup and conservation projects since 1999.   • Environmental Educator Resource List – General list of local and national organizations, contests, etc. updating soon!
  • The National Wildlife Federation’s Young Reporters for the Environment USA competition invites students between the ages of 13-21 to investigate an environmental issue in their community and report on it in an article, photo or photo essay, or short video. National winners’ entries proceed to the international competition, joining those of students from more than 25 countries around the world.

Project Learning Tree materials (students in grades 9-12) help educators ensure the conservation of the environment for generations to come.  It has seven engaging secondary modules most of which are free and not contingent on attending a training (as some of their other material requires):  Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Focus on Forests, Forests of the World, Places We Live, Focus on Risks, Municipal Solid Wastes.
