The following STEM Initiatives are sponsored by the the Math, Science and Gifted Department unless otherwise noted.
The Broward P3 Eco-Challenge is both a school challenge and an individual competition designed to engage BCPS teachers, students, administrators, and volunteers in learning about and implementing environmentally sustainable measures and green initiatives within their schools and communities.
DETA – –
Participants in Digital Education Teacher Academy (DETA) use technology to improve student achievement in core curriculum areas; learn strategies for integrating technology that can be incorporated into daily practice; and learn how to use new technologies such as Internet-based curriculum and digital tools. Administrators are encouraged to sign up for DETA for Administrators.

Science Fair – –
The Broward County Science Fair (BCFS) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Exposition is a yearly competition open to all Broward County middle and high school students.

See all science and engineering contests for schools, students, and educators sponsored by BCPS and other organizations – Broward Education Foundation Cover Contest, Broward County Air Quality Division C3 Challenge, STEM Video Game Challenge, Potato Chip Challenge, Kids Science Challenge, Disney Planet Challenge, and many more!
SECME is a strategic alliance to renew and strengthen the professional capacity of K-12 educators, motivate and mentor students, and empower parents so that all students can learn and achieve at higher levels. STEM is a Nationwide initiative which focuses on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The SECME – STEM Olympiad combines these two philosophies into one event and will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics principles as well as SECME national competitions.
Students K-12 may submit entries for the Week of the Ocean School Marine Fair in the following categories: ocean-themed posters, ocean-related science projects, marine crafts, ocean art, poetry, satire, underwater habitats, photography, sand sculpture, and cds or DVDs on a marine topic.
